 May 22, 2023 Before diving deeper into my SAE journey, I wanted to explore the foundation of this experience and its relevance to FFA and the agricultural classroom. Within the agriculture learning industry, the three-circle model serves to represent the three coexisting parties of agricultural education that allow students to thrive in their future careers and lives. The three circle model consists of the FFA, the agriculture classroom, and the SAE. Louisiana Industries (Part Two)

Wednesday, May 10, 2023 Soybeans Despite the United States being the largest producer of soybeans in the world, Louisiana's soybean industry did not flourish until post-1960. Since then, Louisiana has become an avid producer of soybeans across the nation.  Over 47 parishes harvest and cultivate soybeans. From this, around 65 million bushels are produced which generate close to $712 Million.  Soybeans are not just harvested to be consumed yet they have a variety of functions. Examples include animal feed, paints, textiles, crayons, and even cosmetics!  Rice In 2022, Louisiana was the second-highest producer of rice, with 27.65 million centum weight of rice produced. Rice was first introduced to Louisiana in 1718 by French explorers yet it did not begin to flourish until after the evolution of the railroad. Louisiana Industries (Part One)

    Wednesday, May 10, 2023    Coming from the Pelican State, Louisiana, the culture has always been a major part of my identity. An extensive amount of Louisiana culture is rooted in the agriculture industries that affect all parts of our state. Today, I will explore 5 main Louisiana Industries that allow our state to be unique in culture and successful among other agriculture-based states. Forestry "Trees are the No. 1 crop and agricultural product in the state of Louisiana." ( https://aitcla.org/forestry)  According to the 2022 Lousiana State and Private Forestry Fact Sheet (provided by the Louisiana Division of Agriculture and Forestry), 15 million acres of Louisiana are classified as forest land. That's 50% of our state's area! Private, non-industrial landowners own 62%of the state’s forestland, forest products industries own 29% and the general public owns 9%.      Hey hey, aggies! My name is Emily Nevils, I am a sophomore in high school and a lover of all things agriculture! I have been a member of FFA for two years and have loved every minute of it!
